In early 2012 I wrote a series of posts on the state of higher education and my ideas for reform. I began with a rumination on the purpose of education, tackled a bad idea (capping student loans), and then turned to how we could lower costs by embracing a teaching-focused model for higher ed.
Posts in this series:
- The Purpose of Education in a Democratic Society
- Capping Student Loans
- Keeping Education Costs Down
- Increasing State Subsidies to Education
- The Current Undervaluation of Teaching
- Prioritizing Teaching in Faculty Structure
- Ignore the Rankings
